About Joely

My background is rooted in musical theatre and movement, which shapes my understanding of the body as both an expressive and communicative instrument. This perspective informs my approach to creating safe, collaborative environments where performers can engage with challenging material with clarity, agency, and confidence.

Alongside my performance training at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, I am a multidisciplinary practitioner working at the intersection of mind, body, and wellbeing. I am trained as a breathwork and breath science practitioner, sports rehabilitation therapist BSc (Hons), yoga teacher, and meditation teacher. I have an advanced NLP certificate and am also a certified Trauma-Informed Life Coach. I am a Mental Health First Aider via CINTIMA (Wit and Reason).

My work integrates psychosomatic and nervous-system-informed approaches, supporting emotional regulation, physical awareness, and embodied resilience.

As I expand further into intimacy coordination, I draw on this diverse skill set to support powerful storytelling, consent-based practices, clear communication, and the physical and emotional safety of those I work with and am surrounded by. I am particularly interested in how breath, movement, and somatic awareness can enhance performer agency and support sustainable, ethical creative processes. My bachelor’s dissertation (2019) dives into how body awareness impacts injury rates in healthy performers, and my work continues to expand into this field.

I am committed to evidence-informed practice and to fostering environments where people feel supported to connect to their bodies with autonomy, precision, and trust.
